After changing your password, apps that have the old password saved will fail to connect. On iPhone: Settings → Mail → Accounts → select your email account → re-enter the new password. On Android: Settings → Accounts → select the account → update credentials. Some apps prompt you automatically when the password changes; others need manual updating.
Each provider has an account recovery process for this situation. Google: accounts.google.com/signin/recovery — try to verify via a trusted device you have previously signed in on, backup codes, or by answering security questions. Microsoft: account.microsoft.com/password/reset. Apple: iforgot.apple.com. Recovery can take days if standard options fail and may require identity verification. This is why keeping recovery information current and enabling two-factor authentication prevents this situation.
