Clear Safari Cache (Most Common)

  1. 1

    Settings → Safari

Open the Settings app and scroll down to Safari.

  2. 2

Tap Clear History and Website Data

Scroll to the bottom of Safari settings and tap Clear History and Website Data. Confirm when prompted. This clears your browsing history, cookies and cached website data across all your Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account.

Note: Clearing Safari data logs you out of all websites. You will need to sign back in to any sites you visit. Your bookmarks and saved passwords (in iCloud Keychain) are not affected.

Choose Cached Images and Files (and Cookies if needed). Select the time range. Tap Clear Browsing Data to confirm.

Clear Individual App Caches

  1. 5

Settings → General → iPhone Storage

Wait for the list to load. Tap any app to see how much space it uses — the Documents and Data figure is mostly cached files.

  2. 6

    Tap Offload App

Offloading removes the app but keeps its data. When you reinstall, it often starts fresh with a cleared cache. Alternatively, tap Delete App to remove both the app and all its cached data completely, then reinstall from the App Store.

Apps with their own clear cache optionSome apps have a built-in cache clearing option. Spotify: Settings → Storage → Delete Cache. Podcasts: Settings → Podcasts → Downloaded Episodes. Instagram: the only way is to delete and reinstall the app.

Restart Your iPhone Regularly

Restarting your iPhone clears RAM and temporary system caches automatically. If your phone feels slow or glitchy, a restart (hold side button + volume button → slide to power off) fixes many issues without needing to clear anything manually.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — clearing cache only removes temporary files that apps use to load faster. Your photos, messages, contacts, apps and settings are completely unaffected. Cache is automatically rebuilt as you use apps again.
Most people do not need to clear cache regularly — iOS manages it automatically. Clear it when you notice apps behaving strangely, pages not loading correctly, or if you specifically need to free up storage space.
