After changing your passwordFacebook logs you out of all devices by default after a password change. If you want to stay logged in on trusted devices, untick “Log me out of other devices” before saving. Use a strong, unique password you do not use on any other site — consider a password manager (1Password, Bitwarden) to generate and store complex passwords.
Frequently Asked Questions
Change it immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised, if you used a weak or reused password, or if Facebook notifies you of suspicious activity. There is no need to change passwords on a fixed schedule if you use a strong, unique password and have two-factor authentication enabled. Enabling two-factor authentication (Settings → Security and Login → Two-Factor Authentication) is more protective than frequent password changes.
If you are locked out: go to facebook.com/login/identify and enter your email or phone to start account recovery. Try the “Get more help” option if standard recovery does not work. Act quickly — report the account as compromised at facebook.com/hacked. Check your recovery email and phone number are still accessible, as these are the primary recovery paths.
